Lesestart – Munich City Library

The "Lesestart" action program of the Munich City Library ignites a joy of stories, rhymes, illustrations, speaking, and discovery for children - with all the diversity that is important and necessary for their development. At the “Lesestart,” three-year-olds read and following-along in picture books for all of their senses, it is offered in many languages, and with a variety of supplementary instruments (Sounds, toys, and interactive materials). Learners can sing, dance, laugh, and play, both analogue and digitally.

Due to the pandemic, the "Lesestart" action program of the Munich City Library will not take place in January / February as usual, but will happen digitally from the 3rd to 21st of May this year. Several city libraries invite you to these online events via Webex.
There are also various videos which offer complementary lessons and activities free to discover on the Munich City Library YouTube channel.
For 3 to 4 year-old children there is also a free "Lesestart" bag, which can be picked up at your nearest library during the times of the events.

In addition to the "Lesestart" with Munich City Library, in cooperation with the International Research Center for Multilingualism at LMU Munich, we offer online lectures on the subject of "Growing up multilingual" and "Multilingualism and music" for parents and educators.

Further information can be found here.
